1 - Check to make sure that all of your calves are listed and that all of the information reported is correct. If you have corrections, note them on the back of the form. 2. Weigh Date - this is the day that calves are weighed at or near weaning. Calves must be between 180 & 300 days of age in order for the weight to be used. 3. You must use a scale to weigh the calves. 4. Management Group - Calves need to grouped according to how they are managed from birth to weaning. Sick calves, 4-H calves, show calves and any other animals that were treated differently should be placed in their own group. Grouping animals together that were treated differently will result in low quality EPDs. Heifers and bulls can be in the same group as EPD calculations separate bulls from heifers from steers. Management groups are the single most important factor affecting the validity of EPDs. If you have questions, call AMGA. 5. Weeks Creep Fed - If calves receive any supplement feed beside pasture and mother's milk, you should report how many weeks the calves received supplement. 6.
